Even though I've seen numerous snakes of other species in thousands of visits since 1974,
this was the first rattlesnake I've spotted at Hueco. He was crossing the trail that leads to the picnic table
by Michael Kenyon, around 6:00pm on 6.3.2006. This snake was calm and unagressive; I walked
behind him and he gave a half-hearted rattle and crawled slowly into the underbrush.
